Flying into SA for an african adventure..
« on: April 06, 2019, 11:36:30 am »
Hello all.

I’m Adam, and i’m flying into Johannesberg on the 25th with my KLR 650 from Sydney, Australia. Will be heading fairly directly from Jo’berg to a place called Tankwa Karoo.... then will be, after pottering around SA, taking a meandering route via namibia, botswana, Zim... then making my way up the east coast of the continent.

Any advice and suggestions gratefully received (Wilddogs has already heen very helpful in my planning).

Best, Adam.

Hi Adam,

If time allows, join this group in May for your Namibia excursion.  Have a look at the video in the first post.

You’re already coming with the right bike.

Thanks very much. Yes, the KLR650 has had a nice birthday and she’s a bit sturdier than an average one now...

Which group are you meaning?

What are your plans for getting the bikes, did you ship them early, there is some tax paperwork to be done on collection and the airfreight terminal is a long way from arrivals and the tax offices a good walk from there, I have done it for some UK guys before, but I won’t be in the country when you arrive. A local contact would be a help.  :sip:

Hi there!

Yes, they spoke about you there! Sounds like you’re having a great time.

I dare say we will bump into each other, it seems like people do that often in Africa.

Have you joined the Africa By Moto whatsapp group?

Hi mate.

Ach, slight delay with the shipping from Sydney, unfortunately. Will arrive the day after i get here though (although it might be the weekend).

I have a carnet to pick up with my AWB, and i have a pretty good idea of what to do to get the bike released.

Could you provide me with a contact, though? Might come in handy (you can private message me).
