Race Dog
So...
My childhood (and current) dream came true when I got my hands on this beast of a classic bike and decided to take up the challenge of rebuilding it from scratch.
I purchased the bike from a fellow dog [member=15127]dw1[/member] in the Western Cape July last year, who advertised 2 x XR500R's. One being complete and one in parts.
As I've just completed a 1980 XR250, I was ready to up the game and take on this project. It was always on my bucket list to own a XR500R.
So I drove up from Pretoria on the Saturday morning and drove back the Sunday morning again. Just a quick 3000km's
On my return back I gave the bike a proper inspection and realised there was a lot of work that awaits me. I will need to strip the bike complete and give it a total rebuild. This build will not be a quick one as I was in no hurry to get it running. So I did not spent too much time on it in the last 7/8 months. I have however done some work on it.
Some pics below.....
Enjoy this one guys...the end result will be worth it...
