BMW 1150 fuel quick connector replacement?

So, I changed my battery, but on re-connecting the fuel "quick connectors", both broke. A quick search on the internet revealed that this is a common problem.
Does anyone know where I can get a more reliable connector (metal)?
If I temporarily put in a straight through connector, will the bike run?
