Been doing some paper work on the cost of building my sidecar for tax purposes. Reconciled my invoices, notes and bank statements. Taking into account I only worked on the sidecar from May 2019 to mid December I counted all hardware shop expenses. Most expenses I can ID as specifically for the sidecar. Bear in mind a lot was R&D and tooling I did not have and needed. I also allocated the expenses to the bike, like over hauling the drive train and tyres. Otherwise the exercise would be useless as the sidecar would not run. There is a lot of hidden expenses when you only estimate.
My rough guess was about R65k. It started out as a once off project with no expense spared. Actual cost which will go on my tax return is R100 810.71.
Maybe 25% will be chopped as I don't have some invoices.
Next I must analyze it all to see what the bare cost of the car only will be. My aim will be to get to around R45k without compromising the build.
Eish, R100k is serious money for a project ......
You could have put in a Subaru turbo engine in the bus ......
