I had 100 mm x 10 mm flat available so used that for the mounts.  A bit over the top but for the amount used, there isn't much extra weight.  It gave better purchase for the mounting bolts.
The engine mount on the gear change side is spaced out so the oil filter clears the frame.
I should have mounted the frame a bit lower as I had to slot access for the front mounting bolt.  Learn by mistakes?

In my humble opinion, building a sidecar too light can be a problem, and also too narrow.

That was one of the first pieces of advice I was given... don't try and build light, just build. I went on Ural width, 1310 and not more than 1350. I'm on 1320.

I've sat in a Ural tub and its cramped, so I went a bit wider. I'm hoping to finish it at +125kg, half the weight of the bike. I think that is the restriction. Still waiting for the spec.

Have to make notes otherwise I fit things inside out. There are no plans. Just wing it and see if it works

I'm also sitting on the sidelines and following your build daily as you post. Think I am enjoying this nearly as much as you!
Well done. You are doing a fine job on the build and on documenting it for the rest of us. Dankie! :thumleft:

Thanks. To me the fun is in the chase. I ZEN a lot on a build and one of my rules is not to have a deadline. It puts pressure on you and takes the fun out of it. I want to have it done by the end of the year, now we starting to make mistakes which wastes time.

Biggest challenge now is to keep Wolweseun motivated. I think we both underestimated the amount of work on the tub and the man has welded his moer off the past four weeks. But a fine job he has done so far and we are both pleased how it has turned out. Still a way to go, But the end is in sight. Two to three weeks and we should be done.

I'm looking forward to eventually just carry on with the rest of my life, which the past six months has come to a standstill  :lol8:

Vroutjie wou eers niks van die besigheid weet nie, anders het ek hom al drie jaar terug gebou. Soos die bou aangegaan het, en daar gemeet en pas moet word, het sy begin opwarm en is heel opgewonde oor waar sy al haar sakke en goete gaan pak
