I don't get the excitement on start up it sounds like every other BMW boxer motor. It is not exactly a stirring sound like that of a V twin. Even a Hardley in all of its tribulations at least has a sound that stirs the soul.

I grew to the sounds of the Guzzi Le Mans in its various guises and the 900ss of my father or the 600 pantah of my mother. exciting. Her R100RS was a great bike for going to Durban on holiday but the sound could never be called stirring.

Seroiusly BMW motors even large ones sound dull.

Like halved a Beetle, sort of?

Also a public liability, possibly, if you consider that every few milliseconds a piston is heading outward on it's compression/exhaust strokes at high speed. What if that pod goes, or the conrod breaks? :deal:

Rather get a foot knocked off than your balls from a V.
Don't let fear hold you back ..... take it with you!

:imaposer: :imaposer: It will have to be a Ducati or KTM, a Harley piston will lose momentum 4 inches out the barrel.

Does look a bit cramped. I'm not a cruiser guy, also not tall, but the dichotomy of a cruiser-like seat and handlebar while having your knees propped into your face does seem uncomfortable, especially for spherically-shaped guys (like me).
I don't always drop my bike, but when I do, I prefer to drop her in front of a crowd

R300 000 is one helluva lot of money for a bike that will do nothing really well at all.

A superbike handles incredibly well, it performs well and it stops well.

A adventure bike does tar and dirt fairly well.

What does this thing do?

Just cruise?

:sip: And, be,,,, well, not that attractive.

Supersizing, the Yank way.

Yes, not going.
I don't mind cruisers, they fit my 'athletic physique'.
But if I was in that market I would buy a HD Fatboy for less than half that price.

I was in Bavarian for some other business.
The COVID compliance officer asked me if I was going to the reveal.
First I had heard of it.
I went to the spot but was stopped by a guy from Motorrad SA who asked where I was going.
I said I wanted to go to The Reveal.
He said it was "invitation only" and was I on his list?
I said "No - can I get onto the list?"

He took one look at me in my T-shirt, shorts and sandals and did nothing.
I spotted the somebody I knew from the dealership and asked him.
He apologised and said it was a Motorrad SA event outside his influence or control..
So I bought the parts I needed, had coffee with a friend there and left.

The R18 will NOT be on my Santa shopping list, Motorrad SA (and yes, I CAN afford to buy one!)
Your marketing strategy on this one sucks !
Life is far too short to be taken too seriously.
I am far too short to be taken too seriously.

I'm not deaf... I'm ignoring you.

Attended the reveal today @ BMW in Umhlanga, Durban. Build detail and finishes are extraordinary, unfortunately not my cup of tea but nevertheless, absolutely beautiful

Did ask but didn't  really pay attention to the reply, somehow remember in the vicinity of R340k base price, they received their stock yesterday and I was told that they already sold (and paid for)  a few units
