Henry Cole and KTM
« on: May 28, 2019, 09:47:40 am »
Okay so maybe I'm way out of line here - watching Henry Cole riding through Swaziland on travel channel - seems like Deja vu - as another KTM leaves him stranded....hehehe....I love that 1090R that he's doing this ride on but after giving Clint Cunningham 'abuse' over his choice of riding a GS I had to chuckle when the KTM's fuel pump let go.....

Best motorbike roads, yet very little riding being shown?

At least he is honest, it would be easy to edit the breakdown out, nobody would notice a different number plate..  Bit embarrassing on his side.

Ol' Henry makes entertaining, but slightly frustrating programmes  from a typical long distance biker's perspective. Minimal actual riding footage, just short hops interlaced with many visits to places of 'interest', and luxury accommodation most of the time, or sometimes if it falls short of three star he's quick to moan about it. Guess it's all part of making a TV programme that viewers will watch and networks will broadcast.

Have to say though that I sometimes admire his grit carrying on through some pretty grim weather. Rest of the time though He's a bit of a twat.  :peepwall:

I met him 6 years ago. Sadly his KTM dropped him on the particular trip as well.

Really a nice bloke.

He seems like a really down to earth oke.
Wonder  if he is a sucker for punishment, that Metisse he brought out to South Africa was in pieces very quickly.
I have huge respect for uk bikers, a mild winters day for us is a magic summersday for them.

would be interesting to know if the pump actually failed or the filter just clogged - I've had 2 clogged filters and now a pre-filter to hopefully prevent that - fuel in africa is not all that clean when off the beaten path

There was a recall on the 1090 fuel pumps, possibly the reason for failure?

that's right, could also be the reason :thumleft: - the 1*90 bikes are quite reliable so far

My wife always says he seems miserable riding a bike and always complains.  :lol8:

I like his show but man, can he sometimes choose the wrong bike for a trip. That chopper thing he did a tour through America on with zero back suspension looked incredibly uncomfortable...

I have a sneaky suspicion that only short stints is done on the bike for footage. Rest is trailering.
