For a while I've had occasional problems starting the X, startup sequence proceeds normally, and then suddenly all lights and instrument panel shut off. I turn key slightly back, (anticlockwise), everything lights up again, goes through startup sequence again and can start bike, runs normally.

This morning I could not find the 'sweet spot' lights coming on and off, lots of relays clicking. I managed to get the bike started twice, but turned off within 10sec both times with instrument panel going out.

I assume this is just a key cylinder issue, either replace or bypass the cylinder (is it easy to replace, or do I need specific BMW part for that?)

I assume the relays clicking are just because power is coming and going from the key cylinder.

Just want to check that my assumptions sound like they're on the right track, and its not an issue deeper down in the bowels of the X's electrics.
