Accommodation recommendations in clarens
« on: June 03, 2019, 11:42:24 am »
Greetings dogs,

Any recommendations for accommodation in clarens. Passed through there a few times, never spent the night. Not terribly fussy, would like something central, want to take full advantage of what the town has to offer. Main requirement is secure parking for the bike.  Have contacted the clarens tourist Centre, they just send you 100 names of places to stay, not terribly helpful.

Myself the wife and baby, stayed at Patcham place this past weekend,   they had a deal on daddys deals which i bought for 2 nights for R1499 i think. includes breakfast

4 star guest house, so it was very nice.

I usually book much cheaper places but this worked out perfectly with the baby.

There is more than enough accommodation options, you can check Airbnb, there is a Clarens-Inn backpackers as well.

We stayed at Kiara Lodge - east of Clarens just outside Golden Gate - very nice chilled place, self-catering chalets, great views, good restaurant on-site, lekker pub, close to town (about 5km or so?) and prices were good. Being a resort you park outside your chalet. Heated indoor pool if that's your thing. Some nice short walks in the area.

We once stayed at "Apricot Cottage" - not top luxury, but well appointed. About 600m walk from town centre. Very nice view over town towards the mountains.

If you want to go budget, there is the backpackers, which belong to a WD.

Clarens can be effing cold in winter, and it is great to have a fireplace roaring. If the place you select has a fireplace, bring your wood from somewhere that is cheaper than Clarens. Firewood available at the garage, but expensive! And you burn a lot in winter.  >:D

Lots of nice places to stay in clarence , try EDDIES B&B , ABOUT R600.00 , CLARENCE SPA , R750.00 ,  , RED MOUNTAIN HOUSE ,R1250.00 , all very central . Booking websites have a map , orientate yourself  to the squire in the town , to decide if within walking distance or not . enjoy

Thanks for the responses, have narrowed it down to two, patcham place or RED MOUNTAIN HOUSE , purely based on location and it seems both have pretty secure parking.

You can't go wrong at Red Mountain House, we always stay there when we go to Clarens, very central, right next to the Brewery

The Gate guesthouse in Naude Street is an awesome place. Very central and close to trails for walking and mountain bikes.

Potter Inn.  Self catering 2 bedroom cottage. 2 blocks walk from town center.  The owner also runs an art gallery in town.  Secure undercover parking, free WiFi.  Bath (X3) and shower.
I came here to drink milk and kick arse!  And i've just finished my milk.
