NO ----Foreplay.
« on: October 19, 2008, 03:06:01 pm »
Thats right :thumleft: Took the XR 650 R out Saturday morning ( Sunday i rode the 450 BMW.
The BRP Needed no foreplay at all ::) Stroked her once into life and it seemed as the world came to a standstill when she let herself be heard.

Took the back roads along the railway tracks to Little Baboons as some know it just east of Mamelodi.

Left the tracks and crossed the small stream at the foot of the hill.

The road behind and ahead.

Even the cattle decided to drop their thoughts concerning this track for some reason or another  ???

Up we go to who knows where. Have not ridden this hill in the past 20 years.

By michael54 at 2008-10-18
Is she not pretty? No Foreplay. Just kick her into life and you will be rewarded :mwink:

So let me see where to from here.

At this point the tracks of previous riders veered off to the sand pit in the back of the above picture.
Now this is so cool when you are the first person to leave tracks on the Dirt after some rain. Something about this makes one feel so good.

And still up we go. The BRP was just soaking it all up as if this is what it can do all day :thumleft:

Down again and then off for coffee to Cullinan along the railway tracks and home again before 12.

This one is for Redrider who last saw my bike on a trailer when i fetched it. At least better than the last pictures we saw of Ratels bike in a shop. :peepwall:
Just need to strip the front forks shortly and re-valve them. Then the BRP is sorted and ready for some serious Dual Sport Fun.
By at 2008-10-19

Was thinking it takes longer to stop and take photos than do the ride.

Maybe agood route for the NEWBIES. Anyone interested ::)

Solo just works some days for me.

Hi Redrider ;)
Must say i enjoyed every inch of the ride. Only did a quick 150km.
The BRP also handled better over the rocks and fast train tracks than i expected. She was better on the rocks than the XR400R I had  ??? Maybe due to the extra few kg's in weight and the low down mind boggling torque. Did not need to rev her till doomsday. She just happily chugged along.
Pity the Dakkie is starting to feel like a scooter now.

Going to do some serious sand riding next week and see how she handles that. Sure she will be fine :thumleft:

also known by the name KTM  ;)  ;)

Whats the fuel range on one of those bike, and would they good for say a 5 day minimalistic trail ride. I have been thinking of just packing a tent and braai grid and finding so trails to ride.

:imaposer:

Good one  :thumleft:

Fuel range all depends like most bikes--how hard you ride or how easy you take it. I put the 16litre tank on,( Thank's Topbox.) Glad i did that before the rand -$ exchange rate went south :mwink: I still need to put a luggage rack on and some other odds and ends then i am away for a few days on a solo trip---can't wait. The great thing about them is that they do not cost a arm and a leg to repair like my BMW or  KTM to repair. The 50kg plus on weight you are saving is also a Biiiiiig Plus.

The right tool for the job  ;D

You already have the big tank, now just put some luggage racks on and you are ready for the desert run  :thumleft:
