Checking valve clearance on TE610IE/Cam chain tension

So I bought Chopperpilots 610 and I am very happy with the bike so far. Did a weekend at Kadoeskloof and rode Rooiberg Pass and Seweweekspoort. Fantastic machine! I put around 650 km on the bike so far and now feel that its time to take the tank off and start familiarising myself with her. Part of this is that she has an oil leak which after some research here seems to be the Valve cover/Valve cover bolt. Do I understand it correctly that I have to drain the radiators and take the coolant system off to access the exhaust valves? Anything else I need to know or are there any special tricks? How do I check the cam chain tension? The bike has done just over 13000km.

Are there any Husqvarna boffins in Cape Town who could assist with some guidance for a first valve check and cam chain check?
