Dave, I just wonder if the head issues, other your normal ones may be side effect of the cocktail of pain meds you will be on?

My thoughts exactly... I know I was all over the place for several weeks afterwards as the morphine etc.  wore off.
I had no idea what was real & what wasn't - horrible.  Never want to go through that again.
Best of luck Dave.

The first 3 days after op I would close my eyes and see horrible monster images which only disappeared when I opened them again.

I once saw a BMW, that's how bad it got. :peepwall:

But seriously, I really saw the monsters, it was an obvious after-effect of the drugs administered during and directly after the op.

The body may be 46 years old, but it doesn't think so.
The healing done just this weekend has been unbelievable.
When my good mate Paulie came over on Friday I took some liberties with his 2 full power hands.
We put a bankie (25g) through a sieve and cooked up a batch of medicine.
I roll massive king-size joints, so probably get about 25 - 30 out of a bankie.
Obviously when smoked more than 50% disappears in smoke blown by the wind.
25g zol, 1/2 block of salted butter, bring to the boil.
Pour everything ( yes the powdered zol too) into a Tupperware, and put in the fridge.
I divided the cooled product into 12 blocks.
So double content per block vs a joint.
Furthermore, with ingestion there is not waste.
So these babies are (conservatively by my measure) about 4 times stronger than a joint.
Their schedule 5 stuff works well, but lasts for shorter periods, and constipates me terribly.

The drugs, oh the drugs...
It's been an hour and 5 mins after my morning meds.
Mine, not theirs.
Read the insert in the painkiller box.
Fuck.

Won't do that again...
I fried a block of black butter.
Whole-wheat toast with tomato, cheese, black butter
Dudes, I have recently returned from their version of treatment, and it nearly killed me.
I hope like fuck none of you get sick, not even you oom Danie, because surviving them takes everything you have...

Edit: predictive text makes me sound much nicer than I am.
Fuck you.

Dave, glad you are semi-okay, and to use your words: "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU SURVIVED!"

Take it easy with the concussion. Its about 8 weeks of chill before you normalize. Try not to be too serious if that helps.

@big oil (welcome back btw): He already told us about his leatt. Read the thread :deal:

Dave is being released from hospital, so his recovery is really going well.  :thumleft:

If I can be honest, physically, I am doing better than most thought possible.
Mentally things are a lot iffy...
It seems I got a proper concussion in the accident.
Emotionally I am all over the place, and I am struggling with really simple stuff.
I am extremely difficult, argumentative, aggressive, etc etc.
Then 5 mins later I am blubbing like a baby.
My short term memory has gone for a ball of shit, and that makes me even more angry/sad depending on where my emotions are for that 5 mins.

In more positive news:
My wife, who tried to ban me from getting another bike, must be experiencing the biggest "I told you so" of her life!!! Go babe, ride that wave to the beach.
I am home again - haven't seen my daughter for 10 days.
I set a new personal record with 10 days in hospital, of which 9 was in trauma ICU!!!
Netcare Sunninghill is a simply brilliant hospital, with doctors, nurses, radiologist, kitchen staff, cleaning staff & security guards from heaven.
The above mentioned people are paid far too little for their work and dedication.
A leatt brace may have saved a broken collar bone, but then again it might have provided the pivot point for a proper brachial plexus injury.
As the vulture attorneys calls come in I will be making careful notes in order to report the motherfuckers to the legal practice council for touting.
Although the craving to smoke (any/everything) has been very strong, I have not, and will not.
I am halfway through preparation to bake some dagga bran muffins tomorrow morning, and they will help massively with the pain.
People who ask you to rate pain between 1 & 10 are morons. The real pain starts at about 15 and I don't think anyone where is ends. There always seems to be more available.
A proper smart phone, quality headphones, and a massive data contract should not be a privilege, they are a right.
Most of the people i have said 'fuck you' to, I meant it.
Will be buying an 18/21 set of rims for the bike. Not sure they will be used, but they will buy some time from the nagging.
More than likely there's a little run about car on the horizon.

Oh my, how did I miss it?  :laughing4:

Leatt designs nice products, I'm not a fan of their neck brace.  >:D

A Leatt neck brace is a gimmick, a quick way to become a Paraplegic or Quadriplegic or dead.

Just my .02

But, especially when you get older, and the old legs become stiff, those Leatt's would make a nice little portable toilet seat.

Out of pure curiosity. Will there be a gynaecologist on the facial reconstruction team?

Because....

Eating has a different neurological effect than smoking it... Joe Rogan, "When you eat [marijuana], it's processed by your liver and it produces something called 11-Hydroxy metabolite. That's five times more psychoactive than THC ... and it lets you talk to dolphins."

Eating the same amount gets you soooo much higher for longer and there's that psychoactive element because the liver is involved and metabolises the THC into that 11 thingymabob and it's got a lot more oomph.

Google 11-Hydroxy metabolite
I wonder where that gravel road goes? And that, has usually made all the difference. (Apologies to Mr Frost)
