KTM Adventure 990 value
« on: August 01, 2019, 12:37:29 pm »
Hi all,

An ex-colleague of mine has a 2013 KTM Adventure 990 that he got through a swap deal. He does not want the bike, and wants to sell it. However he is unsure of a fair asking price. Apparently retail is R95k. My initial guess was at least R100k, but I am not familiar with the secondhand prices at all. It is a 2013 year model with 25000km on the clock. Just serviced and new tires.

Can anyone with good knowledge of the topic please give me your opinion on a good selling price?

Much appreciated!

Do you a pic or two, to confirm if it's a Adv or R?

Any extras?

This is what he sent me. I was hoping that there are panniers included as well, but apparently not. He did mention something about an exhaust, not sure if it is aftermarket or not. Unfortunately I don't know KTM bikes well. But if I was in the market I would have seriously itched for this one!

I'll see if I can get more info.

990R with low km steering damper and Leo vince exhaust. Should easily sell for R100k depending on condition, fsh etc.

Pannier frames too of course, and the panniers mentioned.

Luggage plate is missing though.

Side stand foot enlarger.

Agree with the recommended asking price!

A good clean and polish, with panniers fitted, one should be able to get even more, but I'm sure he wants a quick sale.

Luggage plate is missing though.

Are you referring to the top of the pannier rack? It looks like 4 bolt holes. Is the plate installed using those?

Thats correct. Most will install a larger luggage plate anyway.

I might have had one with bobbins for a top box mounting system.

The KTM plate is small.

Mirrors look different. They might be able to swivel! :thumleft:

Is the headlight protector there, or only the velcro mounts?

The crashbars should be SW Motech. I stand too be corrected that the Adv model came stock with KTM crasbars?

The SW Motech crashbars have the brace between the crasbars, the KTM ones not.

I paid R147k for my August 2012 990R, crashbars included by my dealer. Only 13k on the clock currently.

Pieter, all the okes are taking you for a aap. Those bikes sell for around R50k max. If you are lucky.
My advice is to sell it as quickly as possible before you cant get rid of it anymore. Or maybe need to pay someone just to remove the bloody thing.
They bleed oil, electric issues, you name it they have it! Please dont even park it close to your bedroom window, it brakes you awake at night!

So I will give your friend R50k cash!  :thumleft:

Hi all. So my ex-colleague took delivery of the bike, and found that it is actually a 2012 model. Looks like the rest is as per pics. How will this influence price?

It shouldn't influence the price much.
That fact that it has relatively low mileage and is an Adventure R is what counts
Triumph Thuxton R
Triumph Bonneville T120
KTM 990R
KTM 990 Adventure (sold), BMW 650 Xchallenge (sold)
BMW 1200GSA (sold)
