Been thinking of buying a naked here and done a lot of research on the net. At first wanted a Katana or GSXs 750 and checked em out. Lovely motorbikes for sure. Having owned Katanas back In the day the yearn to foot loose and fancy free was strong, after all we buy motos for pleasure and fun, and sometimes to commute with. Checked out the Yamaha MT range and again, lovely bikes no doubt about it. The kawa naked range also very cool but I digress.

I live close to a triumph dealer, Destination Triumh, and spotted something on social media so popped them a mail and long story short set up a test ride on the R model. Yesterday I went to the dealer and we chewed the cud for 15 minutes, more of a exploratory chat really. I have not owned a modern multi cylinder “sports” bike since 2003 to put things in perspective when I owned a GSXR750. At that point I got into DS riding and ultimately single cylinder bikes which I enjoyed. When I got here I bought a RF600 but it’s 26 years old and not all that powerful.

So , we go through all the details of the Triumph and discuss the modes and I reckon let’s put it into road mode, that is not the ultra on the edge mode. I pull out of the dealership and its located in a town so limit s 30 then 40 and I just amble along. I turn into a country lane and limit is 60 so I give it a little stick, the roar of the standard pipe is lovely, aural porn. Decide to play around with this bike giving it horns in lower gears....holy hell the beast was unleashed, bloody hell nearly ripped my arms off with the front wheel lifting very nicely off the deck. I laugh like a kid...bugger around for the next 30 minutes just giving it beans around corners and being a kid. With a low weight and high hp his thing is a hoot. Bikes have come a long long way in the last 20 years.

On this island so much power is unnecessary , But hell its so much fun, that’s what bikes are about, right?

Calling broker today to get insurance quote, let’s see how it goes but it’s a sweet hooligan machine,
