New Bridgstone adventure tire fitted
« on: August 28, 2019, 06:55:36 am »
Well i was fortunate enough to get the new bridgstone ax41 adventure tyre in ktm size. Anyone on here that also has one fitted? I like trying new tires so will give some feedback once we have done some mileage on the tire. They look good and will handle the gravel well. Will see what it does on the blacktop. 8)

I have only fitted the the 150-70-18 rear. For some strange reason the front last much longer than the rear ??? Currently running a anlas capra x on the front.

I have had 3 sets on my 1190. The grip offroad is fantastic and and the tar you can scrape pegs. I ride fairly hard and cant complain for what ive paid for them and what they offer. its great in mud and sand and you know exactly where the grip is. Mileage out the rear is between 3-4.5k. Less if you really thrash it. It takes alot of punishment.. Bike gear.co.za has a special runnning on them for R2350 a set plus odd R150 for delivery to your door. I dont mind the mileage im getting a im getting the best tyre for what i like doing. I want to go fast on the gravel and the tar and these tyres take it weekend after weekend. They are planted on tar and you know where your front grip is.They do not have a humming noise on tar either. On gravel i like to steer with the rear wheel and you know where the rear is when it steps out.   I have already bought another set but was just curios about the new bridgestone. I dont think i will fit anything else again. The speed rating on the capra is also 190kph where on the bridgestone is 160kph. So already its down one on my favorite tyres. Will have to see if it grips and handles the tar as good as the capras do. I run the pressure tar and offroad the same at 1.8/2 bar front and 2.3/2.4 rear. The capras have a very thick sidewall so the are strong and can take punishment.

I agree with this
makes me wonder why I am such a sucker for punishment, I have since paid a lot more for different tyres and only had issues on issues.

My arse get a itch for something new now and again and like you mention it usually ends not like i imagined. Im sticking with what i know works for me now.

The bridgstone has done the canola run and was riding upfront with the plastics all day. Its slippery on rocks and soon as you give it a poke its spins through the rock and when its gets to the hard stuff it grips so violently it picks up the front wheel giving you a unexpected standing wheely leaving you arse to chew holes in the seat van die skrik! I have not done much tar mileage but seems planted on tar. The tire does not show significant wear after the canolas thrashing. I will keep the updates coming. Doing a trip this weekend in and around the cederberg area so will test it on the roads i know well.

Any feedback on this AX-41 yet?

All right Guys. The tyre has come to a  end this weekend with its last trip to the cederberg. It has treated me well and has taken some serious punishment. It has little over 5.5k and can probably do another 800km but then its wont have a nobly left.

Will i fit another one..... well yes is the short answer. It has not let me down. It was taken through sand which it just glides through. It was knackered through the sharp rocks this weekend and although it had little life left has still managed to take a thrashing and bring me home. It has some battle scars cuts and cracks but no punctures or leaks. With it having so little life left it does make the cornering a lot more fun... I am a huge fan of the capra x but this tire has pleasantly surprised me. It has taking long tar days and corners on the black top very good. It has sometimes run more than the recommended rating for short burst many times and never felt sketchy. it has no funny business on the tar and handles it well for the aggressive off road thread pattern it has. On the gravel its grips very well and you know where the grip is all the time. It does get a bit loose on some roads with the pebble like topping but so will any other tire riding on it. It tracks well with the capra on the front. it has a nice hard carcass so it can take a lot of punishment on end.  The only pressure it knows was 2-2.2 bar. It has done gamkaskloof ,swartberg pass, overberg gravel roads, canola run, wuppertal, eselbank, gravel roads to nieuwoudville , seweweeks poort, cederberg oasis couple of times and a lot of tar breakfast runs chasing down superbikes to rooiels.I am happy with them and Im fitting another this weekend. Once the capra is finished i will try the front too. It has lasted longer than expected to my surprise and performed better than expected.

Bridgestone has done well with this tire.

Thanks Molten

Well you know how it is... work hard and play hard. I have to work my arse off to have the fun i have. Believe me sometimes a month or so goes by without riding. If i have the opportunity to go for a ride i do it. Also the wife understands the pms problems we as riders get.

Its been a while, any update on the tyre?

Im on my third one and cannot fault this tyre. It handles all conditions well excelling in knarly offroad to peg scraping corners on tar. The mileage is good considering how im riding. Between the 3 i got a cool 6000km so im happy with what im paying and the joy im getting. It can be deflated to 2 bar and do that all day long. One can put the hammer down on tar with no funny side effects like tank slapping or loose feeling on the road. It handles high speeds well. Will have to fit my 4th one next week.

We went on a ride this weekend through the cederberg. We went through muddy wet conditions on a semi bald tyre and still did not let me down nor get a puncture. It keeps its line perfectly through the mud and sand.Monday on the way back we avg 155kph coming back via tar. My personal opinion is its the best tyre for me at the moment. Have not fitted the front yet as im still stuck on my Capra x and need lot more convincing before i budge on this combo.
