And as the sun finally started to set on a long day we could not help but to soak it all up.

The Tankwa never disappoints

This picture sums it up for me...look at that view!

I do not understand why the media etc. only focuses on the performance of the bike. What about the rest of it?  Who cares about powerrrrrrr and speed and torque and and and...the bike got you there, right?
Nowadays people are so concerned with the out-and-out performance of a bike that they forget what it is all about - the adventure! I had a Yamaha DT50 in school and let me tell you, that bike took me almost everywhere

I know the Honda's will do very well and finally put to bed all the unnecessary negativity surrounding the awesome CRF450L  :thumleft:

Have you hugged your motorcycle today?

So before I continue with this journey I need to tie into the other 450L thread and my comment there.

When I started this thread and journey I knew that not everyone would be elated and excited for us or the bike or the Honda brand. The world and forum is just too diverse for that.

So I welcome all inputs, thoughts, criticism an cheers. It makes the world a richer place.

We live in such negative times that I would obviously prefer the cheers and positive input, but realistically I do not support both teams on a rugby field and nor do I expect everyone here to do that. Each to his own.

Support your brand, support your favorite rally rider, but never forget to support your buddies and fellow Wilddogs!!

Onwards and upwards

Is the bike quiet KarateKid? I have access to nature conservation areas and the 690 is too loud..

So back to business:

All professional teams have sponsors and riding kit and all the other cool things us normal people dream of.

I love riders in the Dakar who look the part. Like those KTM and HRC guys. Damn they are styling.

I have always tried my best to look the part and love my own saying - If Iím going down, Iím going down in style......

So please allow me to tell you a very special story about our apparel (on and off the bike). Feel free to comment on the design and the concept.

Like I mentioned in a previous post - there is not many things Gerrit cannot do.

Gerrit is the father of Mira - a little girl who holds a very special part in of our hearts. Whenever I leave his house for a ride or trip we always kiss Mira goodbye for good luck.

So 2 years ago he (as a result of his rally passion) created the MIRA (Motorcycle International Riding Apparel) brand. They specialize in Riding shirts and Rally jackets. He has made custom jackets for plenty of Dakar riders like Joey Evans, Ross Branch and Our own Donny Dakar.

Unfortunately we are not on Rally jacket level yet, but we got him to design us some riding shirts and casual kit for the Tankwa Rally. I think it looks absolutely fabulous. Love the retro designs for the t-shirts and the riding shirts is next level.

More on the other sponsors later.

These are just designs. The real thing is bound to look spectacular.

PS the shirts in the previous photos was also his work. Each with a special message for the rider.

It is an acquired taste. Die arm man se Vespa.

I would have asked the same question a year ago, but am now part of an elite group (consisting of me it seems) who have seen the light. You are welcom to come visit and test it.

I would love to live to see the day where we have thread for SYM scooters under Model Specific discussions........

Wait you are getting me sidetracked here. I have a Rally to prepare for in less than three weeks
