A Huff and a Puff and we didn't Fall Down.
« on: October 26, 2008, 08:36:10 pm »
It was arranged that we would do a little technical ride through De Wildt, but we had to get through the wine tasting event at Plotties house. :deal:  Mixing wine and other alcohol is not the best thing and sometimes on events like these we tend to forget what we have learnt in the past. :patch:

It was a very successful evening for PAW and thanks to all the people that were involved.  The spirit and enthusiasm was lively to say the least.   :thumleft:

Ok, so the plan was to meet at the BP on the cnr of Hans Strijdom and Old Farm Rd at about 8am.  As usual Plottie was late  and we ended up leaving the rendezvous point at 8:30am.  Before we even started the ride we lost Ryperd (you padda) who didn't see that I took the slipway to get onto the highway.  We had to wait for him at the tollgate on the N4 just past Zambezi.  We managed to regroup and made our way to De Wildt.  We met up with JJred at De Wildt and so it landed up being 6 riders who were going to tackle a bit of sand.

The riding conditions were absolutely awesome.  We had a good bout of rain in the evening which would provide for awesome traction, very little dust and a crispness in the air that would soon turn into humid hot conditions.

Working our way down 3 Fences!

Plottie getting stuck!

Poppipants making his way down 3 Fences

Taking a break after the 1st part of the technical section.  I was renamed to F**king **nt after Plottie realized it was to late to turn back.  The Welsh Salute!

Getting down a ledge! Funacide putting the KTM 950 through it's paces!

Plottie

Poppipants

Ryperd, Funacide and Myself waiting at the kraal for the rest to pitch up.

Plottie decided the riverbed was a bit to much and took a shortcut in the bushes.  By this time we could here the growl of his stomach over the exhausts from the KTM 990.  By the looks of things Plotties stomach was taking strain from all that Jameson's and wine.  Probably trying to brew a new cocktail. :imaposer:

Poppipants also making his way next to the river.......

JJred was lucky enough to buy a piece of land but worked hard to keep the beast under control!

We eventually made it to the shop(Menlyn) at the end of 3 Fences.  There was nothing better then a cold coke and a couple of ice cold zamalek's.  Plotties brew just wouldn't stay in.  Every now then we would see this twitch in one of his eyes as the cramps made theri presence known.  We eventually convinced him to dump the load!

 :laughing4: :laughing4: :laughing4:

Getting ready to leave the shop at 3 Fences!

We decided that a lunch stop over at Moegatle Lodge would round off the day just perfect.  We took some tweespoor tracks to Jericho and then made our way past Ga Tsogwe to get to Moegatle Lodge.  Nothing better then sitting in a pub in the bush drinking and getting a good meal.  Thanks to Alex again for catering at such short notice! :thumleft:

A few more pics....

Just know these few facts:
Adventure MX is a sad bastid !!!  I was in serious suffer mode. I had a head on me, and my innards were in major "opstand". I begged him not to go down 3 fences. So what does he do?.... he goes down 3 fences  >:(

Anyways.....

Waiting for Padda Ryperd

Still waiting ........

Still waiting

Getting close to 3 fences - AMX had gone on a recce
(Funacide, Plothond, JJRed)

Imagine this: This is plastic country. These MX bikes come around the corner and see Popipants in front of them. They must have though we were mad  :o

Now they knew for sure we were mad  :o :o :o

Popipants taking a pig where most pigs will never go  :deal:

This was about where I lost my sense of humour - so no more pics  >:D

If I sounded like a drip the rest of the day, then I beg for forgiveness. I was not a happy chappy and by last night I was rather ill. I had a long looong conversation on the white telephone   >:D >:D

Feeling better now  ;D ;D

Thanks chaps - a lekker ride (circumstances discounted  :ricky: )

What a lekker ride!!

Adv MX, I'm glad you call me "padda", because I call you "parra" - BIG difference, ask Plottie to explain.

Why they waited for me - Adv MX did not wait at the turn-off @ the highway, so I proceeded straight towards Mamelodi, waited at the 4-way stop, saw no biker, turned around, 2+2 = 4, took the N4, called Fun and he directed me to where they were.

De Wildt is a GREAT place for large bikes! Popi showed us that even a BIG PIG can survive there.

I think this must become a once-a-month ride, small group - nice way to hone the skills.
