We were an hour behind schedule by the time my bike was sorted.......and it was bucketing down and freezing cold. @Ghato saw an opportunity to miss the ride completely and selflessly offer me his rain jacket. He probably saved my life in doing that, as I later ended up nearly freezing to death despite being dry under the rain jacket.

Riding was slow and we could see virtually nothing in the pouring rain, fog and mist on our visors. In the process Chris went through a nasty pothole and bent his stabiliser arm on the GSA  :-\

He took the bike apart and very politely asked  the stabiliser to bend back into place....

A previous repair on his pod started leaking again after lying on its side

The day did not turn out as planned. We got through the first few technical climbs into the mountain and then caught up with the GS Trophy contenders who were doing individual runs up one of the serious climbs. We we told that only 2 other riders were on the Black Route and we decided to wait it out as they would most probably come down the mountain again soon.

The climb was brutal in the wet conditions and very few riders had a clean run up it. Many bikes were put down and I reckon a few egos badly bruised..... :peepwall:

This was what it looked like the next day.....

We turned around when the other two Black route riders came off the mountain and head straight to Highside Tavern in Tonteldoos where we watched the Bokke play Japan and had a few drinks.
@Ghato was already on to his next meal and I realised I would have to head back before he dies of cholesterol

Back in Dullstroom it was so cold that we decided to have our own dinner party for two at our accommodation. But first we had to do some shopping - not an easy task on an HP2......

Next morning we were ready for the Black route. We were meeting Chris at the business end of the route, Ghato and I would ride the beginning of the route as sweepers.

It started raining a couple of minutes after we got on our bikes and it felt like a repeat of the previous day

We rode through Verloren Valei in the rain and as we got to Steenkampsberg Pass, the clouds cleared and all of a sudden we were riding in sunshine....

We rode to the spot where we were supposed to meet Chris, but no sign of him. Chris eventually let us know that we must continue riding, he was on his way in the Pajero, not being in the mood for a wet ride...... :peepwall:

Hey Dwerg, see what a kak time he had, so that he didnít have to visit you.  :sip:
