After market brake pads

I am about to replace my brake pads on my 2015 GS 1200 Adv LC.

I was thinking of buying a third party supplier part. I see the options seem to be a choice between Galfer and SBS. Does anybody here have experience of these brands and a recommendation? Or experience or recommendation of any others?

Been using SBS for many thousands of kilometers with no complaints.

I fitted SBS today and I see there were different part numbers on the old pads, and only the RHS pad had that backing plate on. All looks good though so tomorrow a test ride and see if all is cool. SBS were both the same size. Is this a problem? I did 30k on the originals and there was probably another 5k left.

I used SBS for more than 100 000km on my Dakar.

Never had any issues

I hear you but I was wondering about the different part numbers on the original pads whereas the SBS pads were identical and if this would affect the performance of the brakes.

Sometimes you have an identical brake pad with different thicknesses so each would have their own part number .

Unlikely but theoretically possible.

Generally not , they will have a part number for the pad and then a code for the compound

Thanks guys for the info, much appreciated, I wasn't worried about the SBS pads, they top quality, I was wondering why BMW fit different thicknesses of pads on. I suppose that the one wears more than the other, whether the inner one or the outer. The ride this morning was lekker, now to get the XRL started after being standing for four months.

Yes some sets have a thicker one on one side, usually single sided calipers where the caliper moves as there are only pistons on one side.
