Hi
I have recently begun to have a problem with the engine bogging down whenever I accelerate forcefully. This happens in any gear and when the engine cuts out, it loses power and almost feels like a cylinder is dropping out. If I accelerate very gently and shift its ok. Anything more than a quarter turn of the throttle and the engine misbehaves.

That would be one of the upper stick coils.  To check which one, remove the coil covers from the tappet cover and unplug any one of the two.  Now take the bike for a ride and accelerate hard.

If the symptoms do not change, you have unplugged the faulty one.  If the motor dies completely, you have unplugged the good one.  Now just replace accordingly.
