Hyde KTM690 Rally fairing - anyone bought one?
« on: October 01, 2019, 05:08:07 pm »
I see Hyde is now making a rally fairing for the 690 and 701. Anyone on the forum maybe bought one that can share thoughts on it regarding build quality and robustness?

Pricing is around R9 500 including the 4 lights and a set of hand guards. I'm considering spoiling my 690 with one for Xmas if it's worth the money.

I have been looking at that one too.
Thats the old version I think. The new one has two wider LED lights if I recall
Its not the RADE quality but its less than half the price..and should do what it says on the box

We've sold two, and fitted them for customers, too: both customers happy, we did speak to Terrence (Hyde) about 3 or 4 small design improvements, which he then jumped on to.

I don't think pics here do it justice: bear in mind we are also RADE Garage importers of similar fairing, Hyde's at just R9500-odd is very good value indeed, it does what it says on the box, and the product improvements were structural ( a further strengthening brace) and then cosmetic/functional (he has now rounded off some sharp corners that we did not like).

His 1st screen to us had a MINOR imperfection, but his follow-up screens were spot on.
Then he re-wrote his fitting instructions, which needed more elaboration, there was a 'trick' to attaching it, which he left out, etc!

So I DO think great value, for a very workable product. RADE is top-drawer, but obviously different price point, and then the RAND/EURO, oh dear, the rand/euro!!!  :(
Cheers

Have ridden a 701 with it on.  Looks rather good in real life.  Solid enough,  the screen is far forward so it would not become a head-bump-issue.

I quite like the look of that. Toors, do you perhaps have any other pictures of instrument panel?

Clearly beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder  :thumleft: I've seen a lot of others that look worse. I think the two oval headlights are for the new 2019 690.

Thanks for the feedback all  :thumleft: Do you have any in stock Chris so I can pop around and have a look?

No stock right now, since we sent our stock back since we are awaiting the new thicker/stronger screens...
...They will receive the new imported SCREEN material in the next 2 working days - they are INCREASING thickness of the screen from 3mm, now to 4mm, so a further improvement.
With HYDE, I am VERY wary of giving you an exact date of when product will be received by us, suffice to say that in the next 2 - 3 weeks we should have the replacement stock; as mentioned here before, HYDE recently put their 3 mini-factories under one roof (plastic + acrylic + carbon-fiber), so they 'lost' a month production, and when the USA wants say bash plates, a CONTAINER of bash plates takes, er precedence over my fairing order! ;)
But they have promised to SOONEST return the latest updated fairings to us shortly: they have increased the DEPTH of the wiring loom box, they have ensured a snug fit for ALL panel lights on the fairing, etc. The A-frame has been significantly beefed up, and of course the new 4mm spec of screen.
More then

Great, thanks Chris, appreciated. I'm in no hurry, in any case don't have the bucks for the extra luxury right now so I'll wait patiently until the new stock arrives  :thumleft:

Thanks Toors. The plastic looks white in the picture. Is that how it comes or was it sprayed?
