Suur smaak in die mond
« on: October 15, 2019, 01:04:46 pm »
Bietjie agtergrond, het onlangs my eerste adventure fiets gekoop, voorheen off road/enduro gery.

Nou is ek bekommerd.

"Is your motor serial number between these:
M311E-006404 to M311E-009244
Those numbers are allegedly affected with the third gear problem."

Hi Fred

My regular riding buddy Robert (Old School Biker on forum) rides a 2008 XTZ660 and his one broke a 3rd gear and locked up the back wheel. Luckily he stayed upright. I'm speaking under correction, but I think it happened around the 40 000km mark. Robert can confirm for you,

Helderberg Yamaha rebuilt his gearbox for around R 25 000 and some parts took around three months. The bike has been problem free ever since.  :thumleft:

I would not really worry about it if I were you. It is more of an isolated incident than a regular recall type of incident. Many of those bikes have reached 100 000km problem free.

Look after the bike, ride it properly, service it on time and it should give many miles of smiles  :thumleft:

Bikes break, depends how you get along with Murphy. He hates me. My unbreakable Africa Twin stripped 4th gear. Shit happens.

You are quite right, i tend to research and read up on something to a point where it can get unhealthy and i suppose on the internet you tend to zoom in on potential problems. Be that as it may, can you suggest someone that it quite good with the tenere close to Stellenbosch, would like someone to assist with Kev's mod/booster plug/remapping to smooth out the ride a bit, the power delivery is very on/off

Gordon's Bay might not be too close to Stellenbosch, but if I were in that area I would have taken any vehicle of mine to Kevin Marcal from Marcal Moto. The guy is a meticulous mechanic.  :thumleft:

Just look for MARCAL here on the forum and send him a PM.
