KTM 950SE
« on: October 16, 2019, 08:03:11 am »
ek gaan nou 'n 'dom' vraag vra - en julle oranje purists moet my maar stenig weens onkunde - maar ek wil weet wat is so fokken spesiaal aan die super enduro?
soortgelyke 950ADV - wat in my opinie, baie meer motorfiets is - verkoop vir aansienlik minder waarde. why is that?
so please educate me.....

The SE, like the HP2 was produced in limited numbers with a very specific rider and application in mind.

The bike should have longer travel suspension, less weight which makes the power to weight ratio better, which in itself does speak to a specific type of rider.  :drif:

Let me use myself as example - I am prepared to pay more for a HP2 (but not the crazy prices of late!) because it is much more fun to ride than a normal GS + I like the adrenaline rush it gives me. I guess similar for the Husky 501 - not as comfortable as a Dual sport 650, but gives tremendous adrenaline rush due to the insane power to weight ratio..

The specific type rider I refer to has different priorities  - he is not bothered by touring comfort, not into commuting and maybe into a slightly faster pace.
So, the higher prices are a combination of all of the above, with a slight element of show off as well! ;)

I need to add - The HP2 is about the same dry weight as a 650Dakar with maybe double the power output (or is it x3?) ..as reference..

That, and it looks befok.

The ADV looks like a businessman in n suit.

The SE looks like it could cause offense.

So they're basically paying more for the SE and then paying even more to turn it back into the Adventure!  :imaposer:

Do you remember your first GOOOD !!!!! shag?

Remember the smile that no one and nothing could remove.

Now imagine the same every time you ride with a good dollip of fear and adrenaline added.

I say again EVERY TIME!!!!!

It is said that every gear is like a Jekyll and Hyde 1st + side ways, 2nd + side ways, 3rd + side ways, I think you get the picture.

If you have never experienced the first 3 lines and 4th above all I can say is shame.

i've had the privilege to live with a new 2009 990ADV  for a day - when they just came out in 2009 - was white one - en ek het basically die heel dag oral met 'n halfmas rond gery - (o, en 990SMR ook al ver gaan ry en gespeel) - so ek is heeltemal bewus van die KTM fun factor - admittedly nog nooit op 'n SE nie - but hopefully that day will come in my lifetime still...

Die SE loop soos stroop. Myne ook Safari tank opgehad. Wit strepe getrek v kilometres.

so please educate me.....

You ask, so I will try to educate...
Sounds like the oke wasn't proper gerook!
He has to rook better, and as various coffeeshops recently have opened on the Cape Peninsula there is no reason to be unable to find the right twak.
Once moergerook one flies over sand and in sand, the speed simply to high - there's a pun in here somewhere.... - for omdonner!

Regarding the 950 I'm no expert, however believe Throttle Jockey has one and seems to manage well on it  ;)
