Early 1200 expert in WC?
« on: October 20, 2019, 08:57:40 am »
Im from Hermanus, but can bring the bike to CT.

Need someone with experience to solve some niggles on a 2006 model.

Main issues relating to “surging” or “sensitive throttle” making it a pain in traffic or technical riding.

Had it at both Bavarian BMW and the Klerksdorp dealership with all the cleaver peoples shrugging their shoulders and giving up.

Is there anyone here that can help and willing to spend some time on it and get to the bottom of the issue?

Thanx

Just a bit of feedback. Came to the bottom of this issue:
Main issue was a dead (or weak) stick coil. I just replaced the set to rule out any further issues.

Secondly I bought a boosterplug which makes the throttle respond more predictable and smooth (less engine braking when closing throttle)

Not sure how far you are from George, but Chris Meiring (GS Trophy champ) at Terri's Auto Clinic did some good work and really good prices on my 1200 LC  (good prices compared to here in Jhb at least)

For future reference, either Shane @ Donfords Cape Town (absolute legend) or alternatively Alf (private), almost as good as Shane I think.

I know of Jeandre as well, but haven't dealt with him personally yet, but everyone I know that has dealt with him speaks very highly of him.

Shane - (021) 815 5000
Alf - 076 282 5748
Jeandre - 076 113 8911
History:
1) 2008 Vuka XT125 (sold)     2) 2013 Motomia Java 170 (sold)     3) 2000 Honda XRV750 Africa Twin (sold)     4) 1994 Honda CBR600 F2 (sold)     5) 2004 Honda XL650V Transalp (sold)     6) 2004 BMW R1200GS (current)

I can vouch for Jeandre - he's helped me out quite a few times.
