Biker Down - Main and Maple in Kyalami
« on: October 25, 2019, 07:31:22 am »
Just seen, what looked like a pretty bad crash involving a KTM (no sure which but looked like a 1190 or similar) on the corner of Main and Ash road in Kyalami. Looks pretty bad, as bike is trashed - front wheel is missing and lots of the plastics. Couldnt see properly but looked like one vehicle involved.

Rider was being assisted by paramedics so hopefully he makes a speedy recovery. If anyone knows how he is doing please let me know on this thread.

Be safe out there.

My SO works near there.

I got a pic on Whatsapp from someone else now, might be a 990. It has a pipe on the left and doesn't look like a 690 so I reckon a 990 of sorts, maybe even 990 Duke or SM.

Sorry I really dont know.

Do you know what happened and if the rider is ok?

Flip not pleasant to see this from the saddle of a bike. (my first)

Her Sales guy passed earlier and said the guy seemed to be alive but banged up. Not sure if he's legit though.

I would imagine he was going straight on Main, and the driver was probably coming the other direction and turned right in front of me.  My SO thinks the same and says it often happens there.
Thats always something to keep an eye out for, I crashed like that.  People either don't see the bike coming or are total dicks and try to "take a chance" shooting across quickly.   Remember, every intersection is a hazard.

Ive corrected the title as I had the one road mixed up.

Very true Roadhawg. Ive seen that often also and always take it easy and slow down at intersections.

Goddammit.  Looks like an SMR too.  They're getting rarer by the day.

what gets me about the picture is that the front forks etc are completely missing not just bent or broken.
