Good mechanic in Mosselbay area to work on Suzi Dl1000.
« on: November 01, 2019, 08:28:38 pm »
Guys, my cousin in Kleinbrak just bought a 2007 DL1000 with 105000kms on the clock.

The bike is sluggish, cuts out at stop streets. It has apparently stood for a year.

I am looking for advice as to where in the George/Mosselbay area he can take the bike, for a service by knowledgable people?

Any referrals would be appreciated, thank you.

I would suggest he fits an external fuel filter can be guaranteed that the factory filter is blocked.

this is quite easy you simply drill a 4-5mm hole in the bottom of the filter cartridge - will find the link for this with pictures

if the fuel pump is gone he can simply fit a 40mm Bosch universal pump, he may have to drill out the return restricter slightly but it will run like a stream train after that.

there we go

https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,6105.0.html

Mine always had this flat spot around 3500RM after changing the fuel pump out for the Bosch one this issue went away, but she was a little heavier on fuel  O0

Also on mine when I finally did the shims after 200000km the exhaust clearances were a little out  :imaposer: and it lost a little bit of compression

ALSO please make sure that the airfilter box has its Rubber fitted otherwise he will be sucking crap into the airbox and chowing the coating on the sleeves

Mine got to 290000km before I sold the old girl and I know she will run another 200 000km cause everything was still in factory clearance
