The Harley "RoadKing" and "Roadglide" sports engines of 1750cc already.

Triumph has the 2300cc triple.

The advantage is that current GS's is already as heavy as a 1800......HiLux.
and the same weight as the S10 and Truimph 1200, but it seems your keyboard do not have those letters does it? ;) :peepwall: :lol8:

But the Yamaha and the Triumph are real bikes. :pot:

Ja, Chris, I cannot help myself.....but this going to 1800cc for the cruiser market makes sense, as a small capacity cruiser just does not feel the same as the big lazy revvers with lots of

low-down torque to pull high gearing.

The engine is for the cruiser market.  GS won't go back to air cooled.

I was reading the spec on it.....only puts out 93 hp, but with some incredable torque numbers. A tractor to be sure.

It was mentioned earlier of almost a full circle. Well, BMW looks to be going back to its roots - i.e. the production of aircraft boxer engines. I recall Hondaís advertisements in the eighties: if you donít have wings, you cannot fly.

Maybe a corporate take-over?

Honda has wings but no propeller.  BMW has the propeller but no wings.

They should get together.

I came here expecting to read about german engineering and the modern marvel of electronics showcasing the latest in engine advancements but I was sorely mistaken... Just another cruiser motor.

Well if BMW does not put it in a GS, some American sure will  just for the fun of it.  Problem is the baby boomer generation who like big stuff is all to old now and the modern generation is into tiny houses and kak. I believe the new T7 is killing GS sales in Europe.  To put it another way, the new generation wants the simplicity of the experience, not the all show and no go at exorbitant prices. Cannot see this motor selling many bikes.

I am seriously contemplating saving up for the R18 if they get released. I love the big engine and style of it. Will be the coolest motherf$cker in my own lunchtime

In a GS.......just no.
