I only rode with you a few times but each was thoroughly enjoyable.

May you have a seamless adjustment to your new surroundings and I know you will make a new set of bike friends in no time at all.

So has Eddie Jones called you in the fix the pap wiel in the English rugby team?

You are a legend, sir, and I wish you well. I will forever remember the night you drove me to the next Amageza bivvy, after pretty much no sleep at all, for forken ever somewhere in Botswana, I think? Or the time I gave you the wrong coordinates for the ASS, and sent you off towards a location close to the equator....

Andy, you were the second dual sport / adventure rider I met, before I even started riding. I followed a friend riding my newly bought Suzuki DR650 when the sprocket fell off around a small traffic circle (and not on the highway at 140kph, thank goodness!!!). A nearby Dog kindly loaded it on his brand new Toyota and brought it to you, after I'd only met you once before. You took it in and nursed it back to health and made some small improvements.

We were firm friends at first glance, and you are a wonderful friend to have, giving your time and knowledge selflessly. You helped with riding advice, fixing stuff on my bike, and even lifts when needed. You know everyone and you've been everywhere, but you're always game to go again.

My claim to fame is having been there, the once you had to fix your own rear wheel puncture, and being able to help you with a spare tube

There will be a big gap at all the bashes and events you always attended, and you will be missed. Thankfully you're only a WhatsApp, Facebook message/post or email away. May you, Tania and Amber go from strength to strength in the UK.

Keep riding! :ricky:

Andy660, I wish you best of luck with your move to the UK, hope it goes well. Thanks for all the rides you organised and also for helping on my tours, I've never seen someone fix so many punctures with a smile on his face. Going to miss you.

Jeez Andy, out of everyone I know I thought you were rock solid in SA, what a big move for you and your family, you not even renting your house to see how things go. I admire you jumping at new opportunities with both feet and giving it horns.

Best way to do it. Rip of that plaster quickly.

Welcome to Mud Island boet.  :)

Plenty of riding adventures to be had, just need to adjust your expectations slightly. Wales offers fantastic offroad riding even on big adventure bikes. And if you can afford the time off the TET (Trans Euro Trail) offers incredible riding on the continent.

True what was said about green laning, smaller bikes are preferred (justified me getting a Husky  ;D) and again, plenty of good riding. Once you've settled, look at going on a ride with the TRF and joining them. They will show you where to ride to not pi$$ off the wrong crowd.

Good luck and enjoy.

Never had the pleasure of meeting you, but you sound like a great dude.

Great thing about UK is the ferries to France and Spain.

There's epic riding there.
Be sure to check out the TET!

Me too!  :ricky:  Wet narrow little muddy trails, overgrown with thorny brambles. Studying ordnance survey maps, certain that they showed a legal way, but  scant evidence even of any kind of path. Never mind, just lower your head and bash through, ignore the rips, scratches and blood. Thinking what kind of hero riders some guys were, tackling that kind of going on something as huge and heavy as an XL250!

'Green laning' was an adventure alright, but very different from 'Adventure riding' as most South Africans know it!

I never immagined  that I would leave SA , having  lived here all my life, but got a really good job offer.

Dont know where im going to get a silencing device for my Scorpion pipes on my XT, cos I can see myself ducking down some muddy road with a cop car after me, lol.

Well Im leaving at the end of Dec.
Thanks to all of you that have ridden with me on all our fantastic rides in and around the Western Cape,
I will be missing the next Canola run , sadly as Ive done all but one of them and the next thumper Bash, and the Ec Bash, Eish ,,,,!!!!!

Oh well , I will find some two spoors in the uk to ride, I wonder if the land owners will be as under stading as our SA farmers , when i get lost and blame my GPS,
Ag , I will just gooi Afrikaans and act dumb !,, Hoe se maneer ?
Hoe se Engelsman ???

o

All the best Andy, will miss you around Cape Town!!

Maybe we should arrange another/last lunch? :)
