Hey Folks,

It sounds like such a duuuuh tip, but you have no idea how many bikes come into Bling King Bikes, with pap tires!

Tyre pressure is like a chain (if you have one) - they should be checked once a week.

* Get yourself a decent tire gauge - spend a bit of money, it could save your life
* Trusting a service station pump gauge is like believing a Politician or the Tooth Fairy
* In view of the above, get yourself a bike compressor, if you ride off-road why don't you have one already?
* A good general pressure, dependent on load is 2.5-2.8 bar in the rear/2.4-2.6 for the front on tar and 1.8 bar front and back off-road (don't forget to pump them again!)
* Always check the tire pressures when they are cold, when they are hot the pressure reading is higher with the expanded hot air.
* The best tip I learned from Clinton Pienaar is when you are riding knobbly tires on the tar (where most of them do) pump them up to 3 bar front and back, you will be gobsmacked at the extra life you get from the tread. When Clinton did the Cape to Cairo trip he doubled the life of the knobbly's by pumping them up to this on the tar sections.
* You should know this already - but if you are riding tar with knobbly type tires and it rains, take extra care in the rain and avoid painted road markings like you would the neighborhood flerrie with tik teeth.

Ya'all have a lekker day and be kind to animals and children!
