R1200gs Drive shaft universal joint failure

My brothers 2006 R1200gs adv had a universal drive shaft failure.
Can the universals be replaced seperately or must we replace the whole drive shaft. I have not confirmed the price as yet but according to my $ to R conversion in excess of R15000 :( :(

Any help please guys. Hopefully it can be repaired.
