One cannot start up an engine without being able to at least get an indication that oil level is at acceptable level. Before the engine is warm it could be seized. :pot:

Understandably dry sump engines could have oil run-back issues, and a cold check could be very misleading, but all oil-sump engines should be able to be checked cold.

Yes but BMW attracts more intellectual people who arrive home sober enough after a long ride to remember to check their oil on return to home base.
If it doesn't need oil after your ride - it won't need it on the next start-up now will it. Unless your lightie has bought torque tools and is really, really pissed with you.

Intellectual people who stay sober? You mean NERDS? :pot:
