I prefer Ballistol Universal because itís food safe and works great. Can get from most gun shops.

I use Hoppes No 9 Lubricating oil as it smells the best
Oil is not the best as it dries up, I use a Teflon based grease most of the time.

When I was young Ballistol was also used as Medicine. My Mom administered it for Scorpion sting, Bee sting, Burns, ingrown Toenails, Cracked Foot Soles in the Winter etc. :o

So none of the fancy Japanese oils?
I used to use the small bottles supplied with the hair clippers/shavers.

Thanks all will get some ballistol.

None for me, it's a tool.

Chris Reeve supplies grease with the knife which you use on the washers/pivot. For everything else I use Ballistol only.

We've gone through all the wonderful EDC's and fixed blades available and I'm sure lots more will come to light.
Hope you don't mind if I deviate slightly and go back in time to what my father carried. In years gone by it was pretty simple...you had a pocket knife that did everything.
Largely used around the braai to get the last bit of meat off the chop bone.

Anyone looking at buying a knife and wanting to support a local contact Basil in Grahamstown at 081 347 4652.
He does not have a website and it is his hobby and passion not his day job, but he does sell.
Every part of the knives he makes he makes himself.
