That MAM looks like the Portuguese version of the Opinel.
Are they available locally and if yes from who?

I bought a Kizer Splinter about a year ago. Like it very, very much. Be interesting to get your feedback on your new acquisition.

That Porra knife looks somewhat like an Opinel. Is it fixed blade? Like the utilitarian simplicity of it.

No it is a Folder.  :thumleft:

I thought I was healed till that American buddy of me put that usd300 Benchmade in my hand and said "have a look buddy"
Pok that is next level.
..klaar!

Anyway, I cant spent R4.5k on a blade and thought to have another go at my patience with the Lansky and low and behold I finally for the first time ever sharpened a blade to near perfection.
You got to be patient, that's all.
Tomorrow I'll do the Buck simply because I can  :lol8:
In America people sent their blades to dedicated sharpeners (whatever they go by) for a fee of usd 12 but yes you can shave with that blade once returned

Still have a thing for Opinel, maybe the simplicity...I don't know but that remains a favorite especially in the kitchen.

I really enjoy Opinel, have a few different ones.. will take some pics sometime and post, is there a specific Opinel thread? (I couldn't find one)

Who's into Okapi's?

Is this an original of a fake?

We are busy sorting all the sheet out and found this in a box, most probs something like 15-20 years in that box.   :eek7:

My instinct is that that model is original, even though I've never seen one like that before. It's too old to be a fake.

Who would have thought that the old Okapi's would ever become sought after? I must have used, abused, lost lent, borrowed and broken upwards of 50 in my life time.
