Good idea with the PPE.

Here's my first attempt at twist Damascus. I should have twisted it more to get a tighter pattern, but I quite like the result. This knife is smaller than it looks. Sort of trout/bird knife hybrid.
Beautiful knife.

Once I am confident that I can make a half decent knife, I will try my hand at Damascus.
First attemt did not go down well.
Doing it by hand takes time. Even my blisters had blisters

That Damascus knife is just awesome. Suppose I could Google it but how is Damascus steel made?

My wife wanted to get me a Damascus folder for Christmas. Thank goodness I went with as it felt really cheap and made in China feel to it. Put it down and walked away.

Damascus is a generic term. More correct would be pattern welded steel.

Check out @Straatkat . He makes the most amazing damascus.

This is an example of different pattern welded metals.
Blade is stainless damascus and the scales are titanium damascus.

Briv made me do this.     I had a blade I made from an old saw blade month ago and never finished it.    Today I made the handle and polished it bit..  Maybe ugly but practical as the photo's will show.

It's damn cold here from all the recent rain, so I made some nice vetkoek and mince, boere style, and tested the onife in the process.   :lol8:

Louis, ek soek al lank daai tipe mes.

Smaller size Santoku - so 6-7 duim
Medium size paring mes

Special.......

Kilroy, I've got a cute little paring knife that looks very similar to the one above, only prettier . Brass bolsters, a flat garlic crusher at the end of the handle and sable antelope horn handle. Steel is Damascus, layered circular saw blade and mower blades. PM me your number, and I'll WhatsApp you pics. Make me a cheeky offer. It's not stainless steel though, so will need special TLC.
