Do you still greet fellow bikers?
« on: February 20, 2020, 04:27:32 pm »
This last Sunday I did a breakfast run from Lonehill to Hartees to Black Horse and back. I usually avoid this run due to some of the crazy riders out on the road on Sundays but went along anyway.

We were riding with a mates 20 year old daughter who was on her GS 750, so we were going pretty slow but not ridiculously slow. In comparison we were probably riding the speed limits most of the way. Due to riding "slow" we had many bikers come up behind us, to which we moved to the left and let them pass when it was safe to do so. Out of 20 to 25 riders maybe 3 said thank you.

Also the on coming riders used to nod or wave but I see that maybe 5% of riders do this now. This is people on all types of bikes so not just one brand or type.

Do you still greet fellow riders or am I just wasting my time?

Whats with the Sunday riders?

 :hello:

I do, but I'm prolly retarded a bit that way - still think it is magic to be able to ride a bike and that every other rider should feel so too.

I ride in Cape Town and most greet me. I greet too.
Worst is when I forget I’m in a car and nod my head at oncoming biker.
To be fair, I was on bike at lights and a guy in a car nodded sheepishly at me once. He must have forgotten he was not on a bike.
Riding a bike rather than car in congested traffic changed my life.

I ride a little suzuki scooter and most bikes don't even notice me. I dont blame them but I make a point of it to nod my head to greet. It's my way of showing respect.

It is probably their way of not rubbing it in.

I always greet. A nod of the head, a casual wave. Something, anything. It's just proper.

I greet yes.

Delivery guys don't.

I think the non-lifestyle motorcyclists dont know the ritual. Most scooters don't greet. Here and there a "small" bike greets back. Then I know they ride more often
