I'm glad all those that rode with me are home safe. Hope to hear the same from everyone!
Rassie let us know whats up as soon as you see this.

Willem I'm with you on that, I met a whole bunch of people and somehow we all managed to gel so well it as scary. The flowing of the golden nectar was proof.
The Vrystaaters were great fun, glad Frits had a jol, dont camp next to Willem if the sound of a timber mill bothers you. Hentie and DeanDJ eish, my swahili vocabulary grew quite a bit with the odd jeagers and whatever else it was you kept handing out. Great to meet you both.

LS, Kaboef, Watermat, big up for the long km's to get there!  Also a pleasure to meet you.

So after all the talk about the great riding the area has to offer, you were all to pissed to ride?  >:D

I think that sum's it up quite nicely.

My GPS tells me we travelled 1522km in 3 days - Enough, not? :mwink:

I did 1945.5km in 3 days, not bad I'dd say, including Lesotho with Sidetrack at night in rain, Lundeans neck, Tiffendell, Rhodes, Barkly East back to the site on Saturday with Fritz and his GoMoto!! And today back to JHB!

Lekker!!!! :ricky: :ricky:

After brekkie in Harrismith we went upto the Monantsa Pass border point

Seeing that this is a BASH report ;D - I'll post the rest of the Day 1 pics without too much commentry

Monantsa Pass:

Zamalek stop

Even though it is still very dry and Lesotho is desperate for water - it is still beautifull

Made it home at around 4 pm with major monkey butt ! But was alot of fun, riding Lesotho at night not knowing where we are going with a V-Strom lekker Louis

Believe me, this looks MUCH easier than it actually was!!! I believe my actual words to SideTrack  was: "Ek nou f@kken bang ek drop hom weer, dan bek@k ek myself"  Luckily he didn't post the actual picture, the Strom was lying with wheels higher than the tank!!

But, I'll never badmouth a Strom again! It's the King of Africa Bru!!!

We stayed at Ramabanta

There was an acute water shortage, but non-the-less a fantastic stay over

Groenie busy with KLR  repairs

I could not believe my eyes when this came out of one persons "spares" in his kit
Amazing..... you can even break down on the sea ..... >:D

Leaving Ramabanta

Waiting for Groenie and kie to return from filling up. Turns out they could not get fuel anywhere closeby - so they went an alternative route and we carried on without them

This route will be known as the Shark route (by Day) and the Sidetrack & Louis route (by night  >:D )

Soon Shark found himself a little bogged down  :laughing4: :laughing4: :laughing4:

The rest of the route was uneventful as a whole
- but really scenic and the riding was fantastic

The waterfall Shark wanted us to see - but due to the dryness, there was not to much to see

Sidetrack got ...... erm.... sidetracked  ;D

Photographic proof that all roads lead to Lesotho  :D

That was the excitment for day 2.....

edit...  8) :mwink:

Oh yes - there was one more thing. Crazy Porra can now also be referred to as "The Mutton Man" - lets just say he met a sheep along the way..... and.... the smell of sheep braai most probably permeated the air in Lesotho that night  ;D

Whew what more can be said - What a great place to have the bash - I thought we were going to have to rough it and my bike was packed accordingly half of the stuff I could have left behind - there was a Spectacular bath, pic's already posted, Ice cold beer on tap constantly. Perfect weather once we got there. Fantastic company - far to much food - Red the potato salad was great!!!

My Friday started at 4am - No way was I going to be late and get left behind - walked outside and seriously considered unpacking the bike and going by car, but my sense of adventure prevailed. A huge back up on the freeway had a few people late for work on Friday fortunatly it was in the opposite direction. Got to the meeting point at 5.45 and had just finished filling up when Leo arrived. A call just after 6 from Cono confirmed he was going to be late so I stayed behind and waited for him and Transporter. We left at 7.52. Took a wrong turn in Sasolburg and Cono lead us up the garden path so to speak - I had a fight with the mud monster in a section of the road all of 5m long - Transporter thanks for getting the bike off my leg and then picking up the bike. I am starting to doubt my ability to ride Delila and on more than one occation wished I was on the KLE. Will need to do some serious time in the saddle on the TA before I am comfortable. We managed to loose Transporter in Ficksburg (I think) when we stopped for Lunch. Cono thanks for keeping me on the Tar on the way there - think the 500km ride gave me a lot of confidence and although very nervous as we turned onto the dirt I managed to keep the bike upright ... Got to the bash and had to stop halfway down the hill and then was to poop scared to take the bike any further and had to get one of the guys to take the bike down for me. Had a major hangover Saturday am and there was no way I was capable of riding so got to perfect my casting as there were no fish biting. For some strange reason most dogs faded rather early Saturday Night.
Woke up this morning around 4.30 to the sound of bikes starting and tents being packed. Managed to persuade one of the guys to take my bike back up the little rocky bit - no way I was going to fall my ass off in front of so many people  ;) Cono took me back on a longer route - Thanks really getting the hang of riding the TA on dirt - Well to be honest the road out was a dirt highway and Cono was good enough to do it slowley to keep me company. THANKS!!!!!!
The rest of the trip was uneventfull and I got home just after 4. Will post some pic's tomorrow.
Thanks to all for making this a great weekend!!!!

Saturday morn, 8h00, me, Biela, LouisX, Haba haba & Milkybar decided to do a quickie to Lundean's neck pass, the quickie turned out to be a 12hr trip, doing 550k's for the day, going up Lundeans, giving in to the temptation of visiting Tiffendell, via Rhodes, Barclay East back, returning to a cheerful basecamp at 20H30. Remember we had to comply with Biela's gomoto , doing 80-100  max. What an awesome  trip, here a lot of pics!

We were so fotrunate to have our bread buttered both sides; doing both the bash and this trip altogether!

Geelkop marsmannetjies: Haba & Wifey!

Can you spot the "CAT"?

Ouch! MB's scars!, Hope they fade soon!

Picnic time! 2720m, 15h00 PM

Te koud hierbo vir die monster, seker ge immigreer!

The way down via Rhodes, wow what a great ride down!

Rhodes! 33 inwoners (kids ingesluit)

Petrol R10/L, you dont argue!

Laatmiddag oppad terug basis toe, moeg , honger but blessed!

This here is where my story ends . . .

Thx once more to each and all of you wonderful and prescious people, you being at the bash, gave it the great flavor it had!
Thanks to all involved!

Willem out!
