Soooooo i know im gonna get kak now but i need a few opinions...

Can get this 2007 sportster 1200 for 40k, 43000km on the clock...now ...is this an acceptable purchase for a toppie, or are these models classed as a "girly" harley??

Just Saturday past I was riding around and went passed a Harley dealer, the urge struck so at the round bout I made a u turn to the dealership. Had a lekker coffee and chat...

Now, I like the less frills and tassles kinda Harley, the bad ass looking scoot with less is more. I chew the cud with the salesman and was a lekker experience. YOu can buy anything Harley these days. Most of the ous working in the dealership had more tats and bigger boeps than me and the obligatory ponytail or bald. depending on ones genetics.

I like the 1200 Roadster, to me this is the best looking out of all the models. its also amongst the cheapest. If I win lotto etc who knows.

So, if you like the sportster just buy the damn thing. At that price I doubt you would lose.

not much travel either?
If you want to ride the Harley then buy it bugger what other people think

The 883 is the hairdresser model so the 1200 is fine. Some say it's better than the bigger models in terms of ridability.

I'd say take it for a decent spin first as they do take some getting used to.

I took the Street-Rod for a spin over December - bikes extremely cheap but I must say I really enjoyed it.

The only Harley's that I like are the ones classified as baby Harleys or girly-Harleys, the 883 and the 750 Street Rod.

Hell, any HD is classed as.....

But whatevs, if you can't help yourself (or that toppie

) then a 1200 at least has the real lazy beat, the 800's rev more like a redhead with pms.

Im completely the opposite. If I'm buying a Harley it's gotta be the full size, Dyna or Softail. Sporties and that 750 street thing do absolutely nothing for me.

been told by a harley oke here in PE ...If its a Fuel injected model its a girls bike, the models with the carb make for super cool project bikes or customs..

I guess the reason why I like the smaller Harley's are that they are the closest to an everyday bike.

They can still go around a corner.

Sunday a guy on a big Harley came past while I was walking next to the road - man that thing scraped pegs and he was not even leaning it over all that much.

If it is compromised just for the looks of it then no thanks - not interested.

Buy it and turn it into a rat bike. There's one like that on the West Rand and I wouldn't mind being seen on it. Also, the guy who rides it, can ride. No puttering around in the HD Sunday creche for him...

I normally take the piss out of Harleys, but no, that's juvenile, heehee.

I'll just remark that such a well kept low mileage example, and going for such a low price.

Wouldn't be the case if it was a Beemer, a Honda, etc.

A 350kg fatboy is great. They are a real sod to push about and have no ground clearance at all. I wore out the foot plates on my fatboy in double quick time!
