A road traffic offense of that nature, is not grounds for arrest.
A threat to shoot, is a very serious matter, HOWEVER, you have nada proof of this.

If you want to cover yourself on this, get a helmet or body cam to record whatever interaction takes place.

I remember the law definitely specified that in the past, but these days I am not sure.  The BMW OEM spots can be switched on while on dim as well.

Beg him to arrest you! See him in court and sue him in his personal capacity!

You can ask him to arrest you and then sue him because he did!   :lol8:

I kept calm and did not antagonise him further. I will not resist arrest if he pulls me over.

I will however make sure that the case is settled in court, not by the side of the road or in a van.

First thought I had when he spoke to me like that was the lack of witnesses. A helmet cam might have assisted or antagonise him knowing that I have a recording.....

Passed two sets of Metro cops this morning with spots on. They did not pull me over but rather continued their good work of pulling over taxis and overloaded bakkies.

He was pissed off because you did not immediately offer KFC money, nothing more or less than that.

You have the correct attitude RyC - no use antagonising him at any time.  His threat to shoot was bullshit but you may have lost big if you had tested him. Record it if possible next time, and if he does arrest you, sort it out in the court and make him pay. Just check that your 'sports' are legal.
Previously owned: Yamaha XT250 (19780), Honda XL500R, Yamaha XT600 Tenere, then moved over to the Dark Side with a great classic: Honda CB750F - all sold unfortunately.  Currently have a '14 Triumph 800XC and restoring a 2010 Tenere 660Z. Just bought a 2012 XT250 - great bike!.

I assume you lot who think being arrested is the way to go have never spent time in a jail or are masochists.
Don't let fear hold you back ..... take it with you!

You do not want to spend a night in prison !!!!!!!!!
you do not sit there on your own but share the cell with other who just might take a liking to you or what you have on you
or who might take a dislike to you and beat the crap out of you
If you think the cops will intervene think again they are not interested??
You can sort it out in court but is that worth it ??? if you are half brain dead from the beating ???

Eish - I'm also from Roodepoort and luckily haven't run into this miserable sod yet. Hope it stays that way. I must say that after 42 years of licensed driving/riding, I've met many decent and helpful traffic cops, and only a very few horse's behinds.

This simply means that you'll get your day in court with him! No so funny see?

His attitude sucks, but we do need more of his action against the spotlight epidemic.

Some bikes are becoming like the bakkies with 6 spots on the rollbar.

Gym junkie was on his post. Managed to avoid him as he was writing a fine for a bus.

Recent accidents on my usual road is probably the cause for the presence.

Will choose an alternative route in the afternoons.
