XTZ 125 - Bike not starting

My sons 125 starts with kick starter and when pushed and runs fine.
When the electric starter button is pushed it makes a whining noise but it doesnt sound like the engine is turning over, just the starter turning. I had the starter off and had it checked and it is fine.
Where too from here?

Is the battery strong enough? That is where I shall start looking and also that all applicable connections are 100%.

There will probably be a one-way clutch of some description that is not gripping anymore - hence the whine but no action.

I have put the battery on the charger this morning as per Eberhard in the hope that it would be that.
It is a 2003 XTZ 125.

If it is the starter clutch is it a job for a mechanic or can someone with limited skills like me expect to order the parts and fix this?

Need to have a look at the manual, from what I see it is situated at the back of the flywheel, might be wrong but in my opinion would require special tools, lets see what pops up from the pro`s on the forum
