LESOTHO travel ban
« on: March 11, 2020, 08:56:30 am »
EWN is carrying a story that the Lesotho government has placed a blanket ban on all international visitors in an attempt to bock Corona.

No more info available,

Does it include South Africans?

Yip, that article.
Not much info.

Tried calling the consulate offices in Jhb, Durban & Welkom. No answer.
Tried the High Commission with same result and emails bounce back.

No wonder it's a financial disaster . Such a beautiful country but so badly managed.

So, they can ban "International" travel at the official OPEs, but crossing the open borders will continue at a rate of thousands a day.

Typical african despotic mentality.

I do kind of understand their fear. They have the second highest incidence of HIV in the world with about 25% of the population HIV positive. Corona is a massive risk for them.

But just communicate. I can't even get an email through.

I have a tour there in late April and need to know like now to stop foreigners buying air tickets.

Well, here's my thing - I get a call early this morning from a Client, stating that their Plant is standing due to some faulty HMI panels.
I immediately confirm replacement availability, and state that we might have delivery problems due to the "Travel Ban".

He says I should bring the equipment to the Border Post, he will collect from me.
"As long as you don't enter the Country, you should be fine"

The absence of logic had me speechless.

Anyhoo, let's see how the buggers can last without beer.
