So I want to go down on Friday and collect my bike. The trip down is no problem, I am taking a waterpump along that urgently needs repairs and parts. The trip back needs some planning and advice please.
My wife will be following me in the bakkie so 2 spoor tracks and stuff won't work. Seeing as all guesthouses and the like are closed, I need to get down and back in a day.
My questions:
1. I normally drive down to Swartkops on the R367, join the N2 and then proceed from there. I also use the R75 from Uitenhage. Both these routes go past all the locations and I would guess are prime routes for roadblocks and other harassment. Any recommended stealth route alternatives?
2. Where have you guys observed roadblocks and other potential hazards to be avoided? It may be difficult to explain a boertjie on his bike heading out of PE.
Your input, recommendations and thoughts are valued.
Hello Dors
Jason my son has permitted travel and he has personally experienced roadblocks at:
1) R75 at the Addo gravel road turnoff..just past that towards Uitenhage there's a nice pull off place. ( that position negates the gravel road from addo as well)
2) there has been a block at the springs turnoff too.
3) As you leave Uitenhage , just over the bridge towards Rocklands
4) He travels to PE often for the Pharmacy ( Despatch - Swartkops - N2 into PE) Says he has never seen one along that route..(app 3 times a week to collect pharmaceutics from the Depo)
5) N2 towards cape town a bloc at the new windfarm fuel station
Thats all i know of bud
