Marty Smith was killed in a dune buggy accident with his wife. He was about my age so I remember reading about him and winning a few US 125 titles against Bob Hannah et al. All round good guy (by comparison); not that well treated by Honda.

Huge loss, and what a gifted racer too.
Came back 10 years after his retirement, team up and race a Kawasaki in the Baja, taking the win.

Look for a video; "Remembering Marty and Nancy Smith".
All the big names in there were our big names when we were young bikers. Especially Roger de Coster.
