In summer it is not unusual to see groups of cyclists that have camping gear with them in The Netherlands or Belgium over a weekend. I just ride past them and back home to my own bed.

The engine costs R2200, it is complete kit to fit it on a bicycle. Takes about 2 hours to install. Lots of videos on you tube, there is no engine number and no license required to ride it. Fits on just about any bicycle.

Yup, you can get them up to around 90cc in 2-stroke, and I know you get a 49cc 4-stroke.

The engine capacity needs to be below 50cc, and the donor-bicycle must still have its pedals working. Then it is legal in the State of Florida. No drivers license required, NADA. A lot of guys who have lost their drivers license due to DUI convictions buy the kits so they can still ride to work each day, I see several of these "bikes" each week.

A motor and complete installation kit usually runs around $120 on eBay. Brand new. A used bicycle you can often get free off the side of the road...

I will admit that my arse has itched a couple of times  :peepwall:  :ricky:  :imaposer:

For sure, family cycling holidays are a thing in the flatlands, Germany and France. They go cycling for two weeks, camp and stay in villages along the way. Folks cycle Africa up,  down and across with luggage strapped on. Just haven't seen this setup before, the word cute comes to mind :)

When we Did Sani last year we got to the backpackers, and there was a Asian dude camping on the stoep instead of staying inside (cheaper).  He was on a regular bicycle, packed like that one.

We got chatting to him and he was riding down Sani the next day after coming down through Lesotho... We asked him where he started riding from.....LONDON!!!  Dude rode a bicycle from London to Cape Town.   It was mental.

He made sure he finished all his food before going down Sani to save weight as his brakes were nearly finished. We passed him on the pass the next morning. Dude's got big balls.
