I'm Pappa-B3r and I am a bike-o-holic

Hi All

So this is quite a serious post... I have been obsessed the past few weeks looking for a new bike.. Had my mind set on everything from a 450 motoX all the wat to a S1000R... It got me thinking...

I have a bike at home.. I have only done 4500km over the past 4 years.. So I am not a mega adventure rider.. The big question is why would I spend a heap of money (money I do not have, credit card will take the brunt...) on one more bike.. A year later I will want another and never ride that as well...

Why when looking at the pictures thread, or the ride report thread I burn to get out and ride and plan massive trips that will not realise because I have small kids at home..

So my question is.. am I alone.. Is this a typical reaction.? From a psychological stand point, why is this happening?

Persoon op di forum wat seker 20 bikes het, van 1200R's tot n Honda CB250 police bike. BMW's en KTM's.

If your budget allows, N+1 is the amount of bikes you need.
I only bought a bike on debt once for a trip and sold it immediately after. It was the cheapest way to do it.
I own two bikes and ride them both, but the Dakar will stand now as there is no bike budget and battery is finished.
Bikes are like a beer and braai or fishing, you buy/own/drool and ride bike because it brings your stress levels down and puts you in a happy place!
Do whatever floats your boat!

im not a phycologist .......but its normal to put your biking dreams on holiday in pursuit of family priorities......many of us have done that


work then gets in the way..........so its about trying to find the balance


i like what @Lem said once here on the forum..........he will ride what ever bike is in the garage..........if budget and time and family is an issue

try to get a bit of a balance and make time for yourself you will be a better person for those around you

put some more km on that bike you already got


do it small steps at a time...........

you will find yourself in a happy space.............got the T shirt


the next and new bike will come in due course if its in your blood

We have a rule, I may have as many bikes as I like, to the value of my wife's car. Years ago I introduced her to Subaru. I never looked back

You really do not need a lot of money to enjoy biking. I was looking through old photographs during lockdown, and saw with satifaction how i did trials, MX, enduros, roadracing and even Aussie sidecars

on older machinery. When everyone's on a Gas-Gas trials bike, Dan's on a old TY.  When everyones on YZ's I'm on an old RM.

Always had top fun, and made the time for it.

If you truly enjoy it that much, you will find the time. No time is a weak excuse.

Hey Dan and if you don’t have a harley , enter the race on an R80Gs PD and cut the wankers off on turn one and retire on 3rd lap, at R100 a lap it was well worth it 🤣🤣

I have the same outlook as you.

I'd rather be fast on a slow bike than slow on a fast bike.

I prefer to  have a couple of bikes to ride than one expensive one. (lucky I have the space)

Anyway, why spend money on shit i don't need, with money i don't have to impress people i don't know.

It's how you ride, not what you ride that leaves a lasting impression.
