GOING FOR A RIDE
« on: May 26, 2020, 06:49:27 am »
Hi Guys , I am sure just like me there are many members itching to go for a ride . Every Sunday morning I hear bikes blasting down the highway towards Vereniging , Not sure of their destination, but dam I am keen for the open road. On FB riders say just go , some say they going to buy milk & bread , keen to follow suit , but what excuse does one use if stopped in a roadblock? With the need to have a permit to do anything these days going for a sunday ride is looking for trouble , What is the forum feeling , Guateng is small and seems to be patrolled sternly .

As a side note I am planning a trip to the South Coast again , hope we will be able to cross provincial borders in September , made provisional bookings in Clarence and Ramsgate for the long weekend . back to now , need to go for a ride this weekend , As we having a cold front passing could be a chance to test my  thermal kit .

I have been riding from day 1 and seriously couldn`t be bothered >:(
Who the fuck gives the government the right to tell you what transport to use??
I guess here in the Eastern Cape we are a bit less patrolled?

You use your bike for commuting, or going to the shops. Thats the excuse should you be pulled over. There is nothing they could do to see error in what you are doing, I have been puled over a few times on my bike already, and that has been my story. I was wearing normal looking clothing though. I think if you are kitted to the hilt, same story, just that you wearing ATGATT for protection? I really wouldn't worry to much. As from next monday it seems you are then completely safe to travel, provided not cross border.

I would like to ride as well. :deal:

It is not the reason you going to use that is the problem, it is to whom you are going to make the reason understood to....

Wrong one, you will face charges or risk to be locked up...  >:( >:( >:(

Last Sunday we did a group ride to Zulu Falls near Middelrus.

So I leave home on my 520 at about 07h00, fully kitted for the ride and on my way to Karkloof to meet the others who are coming up from Durban.

As I enter Howick I come round a corner and there right in front of me is a massive roadblock. Cop cars right across the road.

I stop.

What to do?

Carry on and come up with a bullshit "going to buy bread" story? No, that's not going to work.

I am now feeling very awkward and exposed, they are 50m away and looking at me.

So I take the next option and do a U-turn and race away.

I check my rear view mirror and  don't see anything,

That could have got interesting

Awesome ride.
How can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go?

Work out a back route and go solo.

Or fabricate a permit that looks official... ( most permits are fabricated anyway, or you download an official one and fill it in yourself)...

And in the worst case scenario you are on your way to the next city to get special medicine. Or on the way back...😏

Edgy is right: most of us are far too compliant on issues that defy logic.

Not worth riding right now IMO. All you need is one cop having a bad day and you end up in the back of a van.
You can go for a ride in five days - if you get locked up at this point instead of waiting you're going to feel like a tjop.

What gives you the idea that Level 3 will be any different to Level 4?

As long as they say things like you can shop, work else stay at home and as long as they have roadblocks and permits you will always get a cop that is on a power trip.

Anybody whose bikes has been standing since the start of the lockdown - good luck - think the bike mechanics will have a good time get all these parked up bikes running again.

Is bikeing good for you? I am sure that Zuma, should she put her "mind" to it will come up with many reasons why it should be banned.
