Had my wife's license renewed. 13 months waiting and we got it  :eek7: :lol8:
Mine is coming up for renewal. Now the race is on. Which will be first? The covid 19 farce or the license farce  :sip:

is there still that surcharge that was implemented years ago which was meant to be a one off surcharge to fix the system?

It works. But they sent all those sms's all at the same time, so the site was bombarded. I checked again around 21h00 last night and it worked perfectly.
May the bridges I burn light the way...

The system is very broken so needs more maaaanie to fix it.

My licence fee for my car here is based on emissions and its called road tax...for my ole jalopy it was 165 pounds for the next year. Some cars with low emissions pay zero road tax up until 2017 models , then road tax started being claculated on the value of the car. But cars older than 2017 remain on the old system. I think the highest tax you can pay under that system is around 525 pounds for them big 4 x 4s.

The irony is that the diesel cars were considered cleaner so their tax was less and in many cases free.

E-Natis is fine.  In fact, it is one of the better computer systems out there.  Well written, user friendly, can do great things.  Unfortunately, just as with every other computer system, the brilliant system is let down due to incessant and serious ID Ten T and PEBCAK problems on an ongoing basis.
