Wasn't your garage door wired to your alarm system so that when it opens the alarm goes off?

Off topic but the fuckers stole 2 jet skis on a trailer 2 blocks from me in Roodepoort at 04:45 this morning. Jumped the gate then cut the lock and disengaged the gate motor then broke open a car and pushed that out of the way and pulled the trailer out by hand. They then waited a few minutes for their driver with a white Quantum to arrive and towed it away. The same three were spotted and also recorded on cctv close to the house at 03:00 in the morning a few days ago but a neighborhood patroller spotted them and they ran for it.

I think we all could agree that the thieves are very good at what they do and "professional" if one could call it that. I think we also have a fairly good idea where the bikes end up after being taken.

What I would like to know is how they target the bikes. Some bikes are stolen by opportunistic individuals, but to break a gate, move a car out of the way and then take the bike says that they were specifically after that bike. So how do they know that bike is in the garage and what they need to do to bypass the beams and alarm....

How or where do these syndicates get there intell from?

As with a lot of these types of things, inside info. Domestic worker, garden engineer or even lawn cutting services.

On that TV program with Adam and JAmie,,,,,,,,,,Mythbusters? They once showed that if you use an ordinary bed sheet and advance slowly towards the eyes, even ones in a corridor for example, that you can beat the eye fairly easily

Not all passives are equal....this is what jou must remember. You get what you pay for. Passive come in all different shapes and focal patterns. Some 90° some 180°. Beams are a point to point laser/led light transmitted from transmitter to receiver.

Passives can be bypassed by crawling or moving very slow. Beams can be bypassed by avoiding the invisible lines, like in movies.

Garage door and gate switches can not be bypassed...if wired correctly.

A mix of all above is the best way to go.

Emergency blanket is BS.

Every person with alarm should test it atleast once a week. Then a gate motor is not a lock, it open and closes gates. Wire your IR beam at gate to your alarm. Using normally open point. If wire is cut or power is lost it will sound an alarm.

While they were at home?

I get that guys break in during the early hours while people are asleep but if they are doing that while people are sleeping in the house that is just messed up. They can steal my bike but to do it while im home.. eish

Strongs @Honiball . Been there myself a few times. I am always emotionally attached to my bikes.
Having them stolen was like somebody murdered a family member
