That pipe looks awesome....I have a Pro Circuit T4 on mine and would not take it off , even if threatened...it portrays the bike's attitude very well

WHEN I get back to Cape Town I am going to have to get me one of those. I'm tired of that "half the other exhaust-fell-off" look and keeping riders next to me warm with exhaust smoke =)
(My exhaust blows out sideways on the bike $:-\$ )

It's a pitty it won't help your fall to meters travelled ratio

Remember to get it re jetted etc.

Maybe the mods can join my 'project thread' about case savers to this one, and i'll do a zook mod thread.

I'm doing this stanchion tube
large tank
then vapor (via superfoxi)
then case savers
then some other fun stuff

eventually gonna do new plastics and repaint frame
and maybe rewire bike after all that's done

I'm fitting a clarke tank to my bike. How close it too close, in terms of clearance between the tank and the cylinder head?

Also, where do I get that exhaust heat shield stuff?

my old DRZ is having some problems.

Bike started dying at when stopping and then started missing and backfiring and then finally died. Could this be a result of a faulty CDI? Coil had previously been rewound by Krogh's, so I don't recon it would be that...

Depends some reckon a stator should be replaced and not repaired, easiest would be to open the stator cover and look for tell tale burnt coils. CDI failures are rare.

I'm not sure how well the bike has been jetted. Is it running on some "generic" jetting or has it ben dynoed?
It takes VERY long to run without choke and the plug was a bit black too. Possibly too lean on idle and too fat on the main.
How long has it been running on the current jetting?
Since it had idle problems which vanished with the service (and a new plug) it might just be a fouled plug

Or maybe just a filthy carb.

Mine did a similar thing when the valves were out of spec, though I assume that's been checked and they're fine.

Valves were checked last week. One valve was a bit tight but still in spec. and adjusted to max. spec.

Else tight valves would be something to check.
Best indicator for tight valves would normally be poor cold starting getting worse to the point when the bike refuses to start at all. Not so much splutter & die while running.

Rear Spokes:

Ok guys, so where can I get my hands on 2 rear spokes for my DRZE. The dealers want to convince me that I have to buy a whole pack for lots of Money.

I am unfortunately missing a spoke. Will any spoke do or does it have to be a specific DRZ spoke ?

Just go and buy a set. They are actually not THAT expensive and you'll most likely need more.

If I buy an aftermarket set, can I mix them up with the original Suzuki set ? As far as I know they are different diameters, or do I need to replace the whole set ?

You get a whole phletora of different spokes which will fit. The spokes can differ in being straight, one end reinforced or both ends reinforced galvanised or stainless but it will not affect how they fit. Aftermarket replacements are sometimes much better quality than OEM (depends on make & type of bike and aftermarket manufacturer).
I bought an OEM set for the DR650SE ages ago and have used about half the set (for seven own bikes and a few customers).

I think aftermarket will only be worthwhile if you go for some high grade stuff from Böhm or Buchanan for example. Cheapo galvanised aftermared shipped in from somewhere will take as long and probabhly also cost as much as OEM.
