Unlike the KLR, the suzuki DR does not use oil.
You simply fill the reservoir with GTX at service time, and it stays there. Magic, I know, especially if you're used to a KLR.
Great news, my book 'Sniffer' has seen the light of day on Amazon Kindle!

That is what I use. Of course, about 50% of the people on this forum will take me to the cleaners for that and insist I use (insert their brand) because it is so much better.

15W40 of 50 dalk bietjie beter.

Did you fire her up? Bound to be petrol residue in the carb from standing so long. It will behelpful if you run a can of carb cleaner through it.
Look for a shooting star and see Lynda's trail and remember all the great places you shared with her,she will never forget what she shared with you and will show you that in every starry night .

Yip, third touch of the button. The bike is brand new. Have never heard an enjin run so smooth. Electric. Flushed the carb. Lots of dirty fuel, but it was not dry. I don't think the bike has been standing, without being started, for so long.

But, I am having the carb properly cleaned next week. Idle is uneven. Drained the oil. Very black, but did not find any metal particles.

So far so good.

Aj as jy hierdie bike in a time capsule kon sit, hulle gaan nog eendag baie in aanvraag wees met so toestand en kilometers.

Well if you are having the carb done let the mechanic pull the starter motor and oil the bushes at the same time.
