Gauteng - Plastic Bike Ride
« on: November 20, 2008, 10:41:35 pm »
OK, so over the last couple of months I see a number of WD's have purchased plastic bikes.  I also know that quite a few WD's have had them for a long time.  I think it's time to make use of them.

My suggestion is we get together on the 1st weekend of every month and have a ride in De Wildt.  It will be like a standing arrangement, if you have plans then no worries, then just join us on the next one.  We can use this thread like the Friday Drinks thread to make sure whether the guys will be going out or not.

The reason for the 1st weekend is: :deal:
1.  You should have been paid by then so no excuse about money.
2.  The missus does the groceries shopping while you stay out of the way.
3.  You have worked hard the last month so give yourself a day off and enjoy your well spent cash!

So who's in............... :mwink:

As does mine, and some metal parts to protect the plastic parts.  And knobblies.  And a spare pint of oil in the tail pack.  And a FKN good rider on top  ;D
The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

Pistol, update your signature then.
None of those are plastic. The 625 and 1200 are heavy metal , maybe lead, I swear.
Vespa is lovely pressed steel.

The ride could be tailored to the experience level there, no hassle.
People could just ride faster on the easier routes to make it challenging.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack, but any KZN dogs, or even Gauteng dogs who feel like a drive down to KZN this weekend, come do the Dirtfest at Baynesfield.

The course is brilliant, rode it last weekend. Incorporates some sections of the WFO course held here.

How can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go?

Lets finish off this year with a lekker ride in De Wildt.  Nothing to hectic.  About a 70km loop comprising one or two technical riverbeds.  All obstacles have escape routes for the less adventurous.  We will make our way to the 3 fences shop and back again.

We can park at a mate of mines factory in Ga-Rankuwa.  It is very close to the trail which makes it nice as we don't waste time getting started on the good riding.

How about Sunday the 30th November?

I know it is the Roof next weekend but I will not be able to make it the weekend of the 7 December.  Family commitments!
